Manhattan School of Music is dedicated to providing the finest in conservatory training.

Performance Opportunities
Another crucial component of a conservatory is the opportunity to perform. As the largest private
music conservatory in the United States offering both a jazz and a classical division, MSM
provides numerous ensembles in which the jazz percussion major can perform. These include:
Jazz Orchestra
Jazz Ensemble II
Jazz Lab Band
Jazz Choir
Jazz combos
as well as classical ensembles including:
Symphony Orchestra
Philharmonia Orchestra
Contemporary Ensemble
Percussion Ensemble
Numerous chamber ensembles.
The various Jazz ensembles have performed at the International Association of Jazz Educators Convention, the New York State Music Convention, the New York Brass Conference, the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic and at several NYC Jazz Clubs. The MSM Jazz Orchestra's recording Shades of Time won that ensemble the "Down Beat Magazine" College Band of the Year award. Their latest CD on the Seabreeze label is entitled MSM Salutes the Arrangers: Then and Now.
In addition, the Office of Career Planning and Alumni has listings of jobs throughout the metropolitan New York area in jazz clubs, private functions, concerts, shows, receptions, as well as opportunities in public and private instruction
