VOICES OF CLASSIC ROCK IN CANADA MIKE RENO, SPENCER DAVIS, BOBBY KIMBALL, GLENN HUGHES |
The Voices of Classic Rock announced an aggressive August schedule including
seven concerts in four different countries on two continents over a single
ten-day period. Between the shows the Voices of Classic Rock and Rockforever.com
will host their first annual RockFOREver Celebrity Golf Tournament in association
with Universal Studios and WMMO Radio in Orlando, Florida.
The aggressive Tour schedule begins on Thursday, August 9 as the Voices of Classic
Rock resume their 2001 South American Tour with shows in Lima, Peru on the 9th;
Medillen, Columbia on the 10th; and Bogata, Columbia on the 11th. These concerts
will feature Rockforever Members (in alphabetical order):
- Larry Hoppen of Orleans
- Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple
- Jimi Jamison of Survivor
- Bobby Kimball of Toto
- Alex Ligertwood of Santana
- Pat Travers of the Pat Travers Band
- Joe Lynn Turner of Rainbow and Deep Purple.
The August shows will mark the Voices' 12th, 13th and 14th shows in Latin America over the last 8 months.
"The last time we played Bogata in December we had more than 7,000 people at the
show - one of our best of the year," noted Rockforever CEO Charlie Schmitt.
"On this trip we're playing a festival in an arena that holds nearly 20,000.
And they are literally some of the best audiences in the world, in a beautiful city."
The Voices of Classic Rock will then jet early Sunday morning August 12 to Universal
Studios in Orlando, Florida for two nights at the new Hard Rock Hotel and a Sunday
evening concert to celebrate the Pairings Party for the following day's RockFOREver
Classic. The show at Universal's CityJazz Club will feature the Latin American Tour
contingent joined by
- John Cafferty and Michael Antunes from John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band
- Ronnie Hammond from the Atlanta Rhythm Section
- Dave Jenkins from Pablo Cruise
- Mike Reno from Loverboy
- Peter Rivera formerly of Rare Earth
- "Dangerous" Dan Toler, 'guitar slinger' from the Allman Brothers Band.
A limited supply of public tickets for the 8:00 PM show are still available at CityJazz and via Ticketmaster.
"We might be a little tired after the South America run, but you can bet we'll
rally for Sunday night with 12 Voices of Classic Rock joining on one stage to
'rock the house.' Even at two songs a piece it's nearly a three hour set of
nothing but hits," said Pat Travers.
While Orlando's activities will feature golf and charitable activities, the band
will also spend some rehearsal and recording time fine-tuning new original material
in the studio for subsequent online release. Wednesday evening in Orlando will
feature a corporate show performance at a private location for TSI, Inc, a division
of Verizon.
Thursday morning August 16th will see the band depart early to the "great
white north" of Canada for the resumption of their seven summer tour dates
across Ontario. Thursday will feature a 7:00 PM concert at the London Raceway
in London, Ontario. That concert will feature:
- Larry Hoppen
- Glenn Hughes
- Jimi Jamison
- Alex Ligertwood
- Peter Rivera
- Pat Travers
- Joe Lynn Turner
The band departs from London of Friday, August 17th for their show at the Sarnia
Racetrack in Sarnia, Ontario with a roster that will also add Loverboy's Mike Reno.
Tickets for both the London and Sarnia shows are available at the respective venues and via Ticketmaster.
"When we tour, we literally tour the world," noted Schmitt, "from
Lima deep in South America, to Orlando in the heart of the US, up to our neighbors
north in Canada... it will be a busy two weeks."
