New York, June 6, 2000 - A news conference at the Nasdaq Stock Exchange at 10:00 AM on Tuesday morning will debut detailed plans scheduled for Sunday's Internet Freedom Rally on the steps of Capital Hill. Joe Lynn Turner, an Artist Member of r o c k f o r e v e r . c o m (an artist-owned digital music label and channel, see Rockforever.com), will represent "The Voices of Classic Rock " who are scheduled to lend support and perform at Sunday's event.
A "who's who" of Internet telephony technologists will participate in the New York news conference as well as the Washington event, each organized to promote the continued development of new voice technologies on the Internet unencumbered by excessive government regulation. Scheduled participants include the CEO's of Deltathree.com, ITXC, VocalTec Communications, Dialpad.com, Net2phone, Congruency, Callwave, PhoneFree, Hearme, and FireTalk Communications.
"We are committed through our business to the Internet platform and the development of consumer-related applications that enhance the user experience," said Voices of Classic Rock Manager Charlie Schmitt, also scheduled to take part in the news conference. "To borrow the title of one of Joe Lynn Turner's great hits, we believe the Internet should be a 'Street of Dreams' for technologists, content owners, users, and entrepreneurs alike. That's what this is about... new applications, user benefit and competitive free markets. We should keep this 'Street of Dreams' a technology superhighway and not add unnecessary stop signs!"
"It's appropriate that we contribute our 'Voices' to those being raised to support voice applications on the Internet," said Turner the former lead singer of Rainbow and Deep Purple. "I'll be pleased to join four of our other Artist-owners in this exciting performance," he said, referring to John Cafferty of John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, Jimi Jamison of Survivor, Peter Rivera formerly of Rare Earth, and Dave Jenkins of Pablo Cruise. "We've all made the Internet an important part of our future through Rockforever and r o c k f o r e v e r . c o m . I am at Nasdaq to help voice that commitment today; we'll all be in DC on Sunday."
In addition to addressing details of the rally and issues of policy, the news conference will also include the debut of "Voices of ClassiRockNet.com" radio commercials airing in the greater Washington, DC market to promote the event and the free concert in support of Internet Freedom. MP3 versions of such creative will post to Rockerforever.com immediately after the event.
