With a distinctive Hammond B-3 sound (not run through a Leslie cabinet), percussive groove and jazz changes, Brian Auger and band stir up a funky fury on this album. The sound, while reminiscent of jazz great Jimmy Smith, is unique. Though Alex Ligertwood's vocals tend to get in the way at times, the guitar and keyboard interplay and soloing make for a satisfying blend on this highly recommended release. |
