- Student Musicians
-- e-MusicLab will provide the student with the widest possible
variety of instructional information, developed by world-class performers, about his/her instrument.
In addition, e-Musiclab will create an environment as close as possible to an actual playing experience
for the student to practice in.
- Music Education Students
-- e-MusicLab can be made available to the music
education major as a resource by college or university music departments and
their libraries. The aspiring band or orchestra director will be able to refer to
instruction by master performers on the entire band and orchestra in preparation
for instrumental classes, barrier exams, etc.
- School Music Band and Orchestra Teachers
-- e-MusicLab will be used by
instrumental music teachers to reinforce their instruction in the classroom while
giving their students an opportunity to see and hear performances by world class
musicians (especially for students in geographic areas where master musicians are rarely
seen and heard). With the proposed presentation of solo and ensemble materials
and practice MIDI files, the school music teacher can better prepare their
students for contests and concert performances.
- Private Music Instructors
-- All e-MusicLab resources will be available with a few
mouse clicks. It will no longer be necessary to dig through a pile of instruction
books, look for a passage on a record (play "drop the needle"), cue up an audio
tape or a video tape - all wasting valuable time in a private lesson. Private teachers
will be incentivized to join through membership "discount" programs
- Professional Musicians
-- There are always more techniques to perfect, more
styles to learn. The pro can use this program to continue to develop his/her
playing ability and realize the full potential of their instrument. Utilizing this
system, the professional player can instantly get ideas from many of the best
players on their approaches to playing.
- Adult Amateur Musicians
-- This program could greatly enhance the amateur
musician's experience. e-MusicLab could provide support for those who "play by
ear" and do not read music as well as trained musicians. This is not limited to
young musicians, either. There is a major segment of the population (baby
boomers)who grew up in the early days of Rock-N-Roll and who now have the
time and the resources to play a musical instrument as a hobby.
- Music Stores / Drum Shops
-- While this program is designed to be used by a
student under the direction of a teacher it could be used by a student alone. A
soundproofed booth could be set up in a store in which the student could utilize
the resources contained in the program. This could be a promotional (free)
service on the part of the store or they could charge for "practice" time.
