Websites

Websites I have worked on:
NHL.com, PGATOUR.com, Rockforever.com, e-MusicLab

NHL.com
  • Slide 1-3 -- While working as a multimedia consultant at IBM's Interactive Media Group in Atlanta I was asked by master programmer and web developer Terry Kane to join the team charged with re-building the NHL.com website. The site was a relatively simple, two frame site -- navbar on left, content on right... and mostly text... LOTS of text!!
  • the website was originally called "NHL Open Net." Check out the NHL RULES BOOK... this was my first big "test"... I got a MSWord file of the text and a hard copy of the rules book to use for reference...
  • When the ink on the IBM/NHL joint venture was dry I was offered the position of Technical Director of NHL.com at NHL headquarters in NYC.
  • Slides 4-5 -- Special Events Pages -- when the opportunity presented itself I created more "open" pages... The World Cup of Hockey Pages and the Stanley Cup Cybercast pages in support of the NHL.com live cybercast from the Playoffs games.
  • Slides 6-7 -- Article in Computerworld magazine about the IBM/NHL joint venture and some kind words about the website. IBM's "Goalie" mouse graphic that was a full back page ad in USA Today.
  • Slide 8 -- My last "function" with NHL.com - the 1998 All-Star Game in San Jose, CA. Check out the party at Rockforever.com. The concert was cybercast (audio and video) to the world wide web.
PGA TOUR
  • Charlie Schmitt, my boss at the NHL was hired by the PGA TOUR and he did the same joint venture deal with IBM and the PGA TOUR that he did at the NHL. I followed him to the PGA TOUR.
  • Slide 9 -- This was the first design completed by IBM for PGATOUR.com... but not without a LOT of angst over the "look". Everything was a graphic... consequently by the time the "ads" were added to the page it was close to 200K in size... a VERY LONG Download!!
  • Slide 10 -- The interior pages were a simpler looking design but complex to build and to maintain. The people working on then had a variety of skill levels and, as a result, there were often "broken" pages!
  • Slides 11-12 -- When the opportunity presented it self I "broke" the page mold and built "Special Events" pages without all the graphics... these loaded dramatically faster
Rockforever.com
  • Slide 13 -- Rockforever.com Home Page -- to support the group of singers known as the Voices of Classic Rock... some of the finest and most successful lead singers in Rock 'N' Roll.
  • Slide 14 -- A "Concert" page -- a slide show of images from a Voices' concert.
  • Slides 15-16 -- Joe Lynn Turner Bio and Album pages
e-MusicLab
  • Slide 17 -- e-MusicLab.com Home Page -- the demo for my on-line drumset instruction program.
  • Slide 18 -- breaking the solo down and learning it measure by measure...
  • Slide 19 -- Watching the video of Dave Weckl playing an exercise.
